San Martin de Tesorillo-Castellar area 07, 09 and 11 April 2014

Three fantastic walks this week just over the 'border' in Cadiz province. The south-easterly 'levante' winds meant it was a little misty at times on the first two days but the sun was out for long enough to enjoy some wonderful views. Many flowers were in bloom and the birdsong had to be heard to be believed, particularly in 'Nightingale alley' where several of these visually inconspicuous, but vocally spectacular, birds attempted to out-sing each other.

A misty start

The easy bit before the climb to Cerro Gordo

At the top of the first hill on the Cerro de Galgo walk

Climbing up through the mist

Some cute 'recinto' cattle

The old Roman road to Castellar de la Frontera

Looking up towards the castle at Castellar

Almost home!
